Polyurethane

These two-part, liquid mold rubbers can be poured, brushed or sprayed to make molds that cure at room temperature for casting plaster, wax, concrete, resins (polyurethane, epoxy and polyester) as well as polyurethane foam. They are the most versatile, easy-to-use and cost-effective mold materials available. Hardnesses range from a soft Shore A-20 to a very firm Shore D-45.

Pourable Polyurethane Mold Rubbers

These polyurethane mold rubbers span the range of very soft (A~20) to very firm (D~45) rubbers which, when mixed as supplied, can be used to create a multitude of poured molds and flexible parts. These liquid rubbers are excellent choices for making molds for casting concrete, plaster, wax as well as for limited resin and foam casting applications. The Poly 74-Series rubbers are soft to mid-range hardness rubbers (A~20-55) and can also be thickened with fumed silica or Poly Fiber II to create brushed molds. Poly 75 & 77-Series rubbers are mid-range to firm rubbers (A~60-90) and Poly 81-Series systems are even firmer yet (A~90 to D~45). Poly 72-40 can be thickened with a liquid thickener for brush-on mold applications. GlassRub is a clear specialty rubber used for cut molds where clarity is important or for casting clear art objects & decor.

Brushable Polyurethane Mold Rubbers

Polygel mold rubbers are without equal for brushed or sprayed blanket molds as they self-thicken to a thixotropic consistency when low viscosity Parts A & B are mixed. Sprayable Polygel rubbers are ideal for large surface area applications where brushing is impractical. Sprayable systems can be applied using a low-cost, portable Plas-Pak gun and cartridges or with higher output spray systems such as the FR-6 meter-mix/spray machine. Sprayed molds can be made in a single application reducing time and waste. These unique polyurethane liquid mold rubbers patented by Polytek are soft to mid-range hardness, high-performance, room temperature curing systems offering superior flexibility and toughness allowing durable molds to be made from relatively simple to the most highly detailed, undercut and complex models.
Polygel rubbers are commonly used for ornamental precast concrete casting, architectural GFRC casting and restoration, plaster casting, art foundries, sculpture and decor reproduction, and for numerous hobby, craft, prop and display mold making and casting projects where brushable and sprayable molds are required.
Poly 1511 or 1512X with Poly Fiber is an excellent choice for a lightweight, fast, strong mother mold / mold shell to support a Polygel blanket mold.
